Your Past Doesn't Determine Your Future
As a child I was taught that you work hard. Not hard as in determination. Not hard as in being persistent. Not hard as in having a goal and working toward that goal. I was taught that you work hard "physically". To use your hands, arms, and back. To use your physical strength.
My parents would come home tired, broke and unhappy with what they were doing. I didn't want that for myself. I didn't want to be physically tired. I didn't want to be broke and broken. I knew there was more for me and I was determined to find out what it was.
So, I fought! I didn't fight physically. I fought to be different. I fought so that I didn't have to be physically tired. I fought to not be broken. And I fought to find happiness.
Fast forward to December 16th, 2017. I became the first in my family to graduate with a Master's Degree. I am still working towards my goals and I still continue to fight daily. I fight to live a physically and mentally healthy life. Because that's the beauty in life. The Kiss of Beauty that is...
